Snowboarding at Nagornaya Ski Hill at Moscow

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim and assalamualaikum

Alhamdulillah, even though some of us hard to accept this fact for some reasons but Moscow still is a unique city because there are so many things to do without having to leave the city boundaries. One of them is snowboarding or skiing in the city itself. There are 2 ski hills within Moscow itself. Nagornaya, also known as Kant Ski Center, and Krylatskoe, also known as Lata Track. Nagornaya is indeed much better from a snowboarding or skiing point-of-view as it’s bigger, steeper, and costs less than Krylatskoe. Being inside the city, Nagornaya ski hill can be accessed either by car, by bus or by metro (grey line, metro station “Nagornaya”). But as we are students, bus and metro are our only choice. ;)

Nagornaya has many ski & snowboarding tracks for various skill levels.

Working Hours              : 9 am - 11pm
Address                         : Metro Nagornaya, Электролитный проезд, дом 7, корп. 2
How to get there            : From Metro Nagornaya (Gray line, south), walk for 5 mins,   follow   the signboard (KANT)

Nagornaya offers outdoor activities of guaranteed pleasure. The ski rental will supply you with all the equipment needed but i would suggest borrowing the equipment from your friends. So, you can expect a full day of winter fun with your friends, insyaAllah.
From my experiences, snowboarding can be more fun than ice-skating because of several reasons. For example, the slopes are covered by snow and if you fall, it wouldn’t hurt much, not like ice-skating. But the downside is the cost of the equipment is higher compare to ice-skate. So, be wise!

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” [Surah Al-Hujuraat, 49:13]

It was easy to fine place to pray as long as it’s clean and does not block people’s way. For the wudhu’, if the water from toilet or river are too cold, you can even tayammun using the snow.

Praying is a must even you are far away from your house or mosque.

As usual, I always bring my own food. You can also buy something from the café on top of the slopes but it is quiet expensive. In the café, they prohibit the customer from bringing in outside food. To avoid from being scolded, please buy something such as chai balshoe about 500ml for 50 ruble. ;)

Having lunch together makes the ukhwah stronger.

View in café.

Last but not least, even we had so much fun snowboarding; i would like the readers to always remember Allah! Why? How is it related to snowboarding on the hill in the Moscow’s city? Then the answer is, ask yourselves who created the things around you? Here on the hill, we can point out plenty of signs of Allah’s existence and to praise Allah when we see something that amazes us.

The solar eclipse is one of the Allah Almighty’s beautiful creations.

Breathtaking views can be seen on the slopes during sunset.

A very beautiful night time on top of the slopes. Subhanallah!

“Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.”

[Surah Al-Baqara, 2:164]

Wallahu ‘alam. See you there! ;)
