السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته and ﷽
The quest to find a cool place to be featured in Azam Russia's Tempat Menarik column is not an easy job. Moscow is such an interesting city with too much interesting place to choose for. I want to find a simple but universal place so that a wide range of readers can enjoy. Alhamdulillah I stumbled upon a classical car gallery near Metro Frunzenskaya, the Autoville Museum. It is a 2 floor gallery, housing near 60 classical cars dated pre-1900 to 1960s from all over Russia, Europe and America.
The Location
The Autoville Museum is located in ул. Усачёва, дом 2, стр. 1 just 400 meters away or 5 minutes walk from Metro Frunzenskaya. Some of nearby landmarks are the "infamous" Sechenov's Dekanat building and Frunzen Park.
The location is convenient especially to M1 students because we have our classes and hospitals scattered nearby. In fact you can pay a visit in between classes if time permit. 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours would be enough to be spent in the gallery.
The operating time
Principally the operating time is from 10am to 10pm daily, 7 days a week. But alas my attempts to visit were in vain twice because the place was open partially (only open for 1 floor) due to some private functions. Yes, you can organize celebrations or weddings here. Feel free to visit autoville.ru for further details.
With that in mind I suggest you to call the museum reception +7 (495)98-81 to confirm before coming.
The price
The normal price is 300rub for adults and 200rub during the day it is open for 1 floor. 100rub for those showing student cards on any day.
100rub for a 2 floor mini museum is quite a bargain I think.
What's interesting
You don't need to be a car geek to be able to appreciate the magnificent beauty of classical cars. 50 years back cars are considered luxurious items rather than necessity like they are today. Cars were only owned by elites and it is shown in the sheer size and designs. For some, car is more than just a mode of transport. It is a piece of art and an expression of passion.
For me the greatest woww-factor is the 1954 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing. I am personally in awe with Transformer 3-featured Mercedes Benz SLS AMG (the one that the heroin drives which infested by Decepticon). To be able to meet its "ancestor" in person is such a big honour to me.

Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing. The fastest production car when it hit the market in 1954. 250kmh is fast now if you ask me. It is certainly mindblowingly fast 60 years back.

My another favorite
car of the exhibition, the majestic Mercedes
Benz 540K (yes, I'm a Merc-freak, I know..). Pretty huge for a 2-seater
coupe, don’t you think?

Other interesting collection includes some Bentleys, Jaguars,
Cadillacs, Chevrolet Corvettes, Ford Mustang and some other brand names you
never heard of. There is also souvenir shop in which you can buy car mini
models, t-shirts, calendars and obviously, souvenirs.
There are so much that I can share here but I don’t want to spoil
the fun.
Come here and feel it yourselves!
