AZAM Russia brings to you some of the important highlights around the world!

A Patriarch Indeed

A scandal over a timepiece on the Patriarch’s wrist rocked the Russian blogosphere after a watch “miraculously” vanished from one of his photos. The embarrassed Patriarch’s press service has already said it was “a ridiculous mistake.”
On Wednesday watchful online observers noticed a photo on the Church’s official website, in which Kirill was shown sitting at a table with a shiny polished surface. There was a reflection of a watch in the surface while no timepiece was visible on Kirill.
Bloggers were quick to find a cached version of the same image with the Patriarch’s watch intact. The conclusion they drew was that they had either found a documented miracle or the Patriarchy was not honest, stating that every image on its website was original and unedited.

Syria:Clashes After Annan Visit

Fierce clashes have been reported between Syrian government forces and opposition fighters in Douma, near the capital Damascus, and in other parts of the country, amid doubts over the government's declared commitment to meeting an imminent ceasefire deadline.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday that violence against civilians had not stopped and the year-long conflict was getting worse.
"Despite the Syrian government's acceptance of the joint special envoy's [Kofi Annan's] plan of initial proposals to resolve the crisis, the violence and assaults in civilian areas have not stopped," Ban told the UN General Assembly.

Google Goggles

Google has given the world a glimpse of its vision for letting people look at life through internet-tinted spectacles.
It posted a brief introduction to Project Glass, including photos and a concept video, on its Google+ social network on Wednesday.
"We think technology should work for you, be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't," members of the project team said in a Google+ post.
But Google stressed that the glasses were a concept far from being brought to market.

Kony 2012:The 2nd episode

The US non-governmental organisation Invisible Children has released a follow-up video to the hugely popular internet documentary calling for the capture of Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) leader Joseph Kony.
"Kony 2012: Part II - Beyond Famous" uses some of the same Hollywood-style production techniques but goes deeper into the political and regional background of the hunt for the rebel leader who fled his native north Uganda more than six years ago.

A Glimpse into the Middle East issue:

Gaza being rejected!

Gaza,Palestine-The International Criminal Court has halted a Palestinian Authority bid to clear the way for the permanent war crimes tribunal to investigate an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that began in December 2008.
"The office [of the prosecutor] has assessed that it is for the relevant bodies at the UN or the Assembly of State Parties to make a legal determination whether Palestine qualifies as a state for the purpose of acceding to the Rome Statute [the court's founding treaty]," the prosecutor's office said in a statement on Tuesday.

Death Increases

Palestine-The past year saw a sharp rise in the number of civilians killed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a human rights group said.
An annual report from the Jerusalem-based B'Tselem showed that in 2011 Israeli security forces killed a total of 105 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, of whom 37 were confirmed as non-combatants.
"The picture is harsh, not because of dramatic events or a sudden deterioration, but precisely because of the routine," the report said.
"This year, we enter the 45th year since Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza Strip. What was supposed to be a temporary situation appears firmly entrenched with no change in sight."
Israel captured the West Bank, the Golan Heights, mainly Arab east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip during the 1967 Six-Day War, but pulled its settlers and soldiers out of Gaza in 2005. It still occupies the other areas until today.

Confessions of a 13 year old

Beirut,Lebanon-For 13-year-old Hossam, the “ultimate pain” of his torture at the hands of the Syrian forces was when the “terrifying person” with the “huge body” wearing “black and black” drove a screwdriver up into his big toe nail before ripping it out with pliers.
